Oh my gosh!! It was such a treat to be around these men!! Classy guys.....Little strange, but classy. They did a little recognition for dad and recognized him for all that he had done in law enforcement and for the state of Utah. He truly is an icon. Nick shared a funny story where he said that he and dad were in California for a conference. Nick told the local police that he was going to need a car. So they gave him the keys to a nice black Camaro. They told him that it was a confiscated car off of the impound lot, but no worries. So he went to pick up dad and dad immediately said "Nice Car! Where did you get it from?" Nick simply replied "I don't know. It is stolen." Dad believed him!!
But the funnier thing was after Nick told everyone about Vern being featured in the Utah Peace Officers Association Magazine. Russ Calam, who is 93 years old by the way, pipes up and says "Yeah, I read that article. It was a bunch of lies!" Ha Ha...too funny.
